With the HDMI Mini-PC market growing day by day (thanks to Intel and other manufacturers), Google had to join the game. Its Chromebit, externally similiar to Intel's ComputeStick, is produced in partnership with Asus. The differences are under the hood: while Intel offers Windows 8.1 with Bing and an Atom SoC, Google pushes in Chrome OS and a Rockchip RK3288 ARM SoC with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
Chromebit will be able to transform any TV / monitor in a sort of Chromebook. Of course, you will need to buy a bluetooth mouse & keyboard combo in order to control the system, or a classic hub to connect your devices to the only USB port inside the chassis.
This is an interesting solution, especially now that Google has allowed the developers to convert their Android Apps to Chrome OS.
Chromebit is expected to hit the market the next summer, in different colours and at a price of less than 100 €.
