Forrest Norrod, Vice President e General Manager for Server Solutions presso Dell, ha affermato: “With this donation, Dell is further working hand-in-hand with the community to enable development and testing of workloads for leading-edge hyperscale environments. We recognize the market potential for ARM servers, and with our experience and understanding of the market, are enabling developers with systems and access as the ARM server market matures”.
A tal proposito Barry Evans, Chief Executive di Calxeda, ha affermato: “We are so thrilled to be at a point now where our promise of high performance, low power servers is real, live, and affecting positive improvements. We support the Apache community and appreciate Dell stepping up with this considerable donation, and commitment”.
A quanto pare non manca molto ad un’invasione di sistemi Server basati su architettura ARM, e la volontà di Intel di sviluppare Haswell nella declinazione a bassissimo consumo fa capire come la casa di Santa Clara, nonostante le parole di Otellini ("I happen to be around long enough to remember those guys. People come and go, and we’ve never had an exclusive, if you will. And, overall, the best chip has won"), tema decisamente la casa britannica.
