Our sources, one more time, told us a big news: the next Grand Theft Auto will have a solid DirectX 12 backend, just like incoming Civilization VI.

According to the rumour, Rockstar will take advantage of DirectX 12 features (Asynchronous Compute and Resource Heap, improved system memory management) to create a bigger and more populated world. The DirectX 11 API, despite the recent improvements, is still a huge stop to realize a more realistic world and a more sofisticated AI.

In order to make an innovative game, Rockstar will show the next GTA chapter only during 2017 … maybe.

I would like to mention for the record that Resource Heap Tiers are: Tier 1 (Fermi, Maxwell 1.0, Maxwell 2.0), Tier 2 (GCN 1.0, GCN 1.1, GCN 1.2, GCN 1.3) - Pascal (?)
