The Taiwanese computer manufacturer Acer, big supporter of Google with its Chromebook (confirmed by the number of sales, going up day by day), announces the first ChromeOS - based AiO system.

Aesthetically, it is very reminiscent to the Apple's iMac (just look at the keyboard), with a lower price tag. Its launch will take place during the 2Q 2015. In details, the Chromebase is powered by Nvidia's SoC Tegra K1, a quad-core Cortex A-15 @ 2.3 GHz (+1 companion core), supported by a 192 Cuda Core Kepler iGPU. Screen size is 21.5", FullHD 1080p glossy panel (1920x1080), with a webcam on the bezel and 2x 3 Watts speakers. The set of I/O connection is definitely ok: Wireless 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, USB 3.0 & 2.0 (the number of ports is not known yet). Due to the fact the mouse and keyboard combo is wired, 2 of these ports will be permanently occupied, unless Acer decides to offer a wireless kit from the beginning.

Last but not least, such a machine can be used for home entertainment only (internet browsing, multimedia content, casual games, etc.), as there is no productivity software for this platform yet.
