Archos anticipates the MWC 2015 with four new smartphones

archos mwc 2015 1 Like LG did earlier this week, the French company Archos has decided to anticipate the MWC 2015 in Barcelona with the web presentation of four new economic - mainstream devices; these include two smartphones and two phablets.

The first and the most powerful of them is surely the model 50 Oxygen Plus, a smartphone featuring a HD 5" display produced by JDI (720p, 294 PPI) and animated by a MediaTek MT 6592 SoC, octa-core Cortex - A7 @ 1.40GHz and iGPU MALI 450MP4, supported by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSDXC - up to 128GB).

The rest of the features are a rear 8MPx camera supported by a flash LED, a front 5MPx camera, a 2000mAh battery, 3G/HSPA+ and Bluetooth 4.0/WiFi/GPS/A-GPS all managed by Android 4.4 KitKat, integrated in a 143.5 x 72.5 x 7.2mm chassis weighting 125g. Its arrival is expected during March at a price of € 199, and will be accompanied in the month of June by a 4G/LTE variant, carrying the latest MediaTek MT6752 Soc and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The second smartphone is model 52 Platinum, sharing the same HD IPS display (1280 x 720) found in the Xenon 59 and 62 Phablets, the Mediatek MT6582 SoC, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, 2G/3G network support, Dual Sim, Bluetooth 4.0/WiFi/GPS/A-GPS, managed by Android 4.4 KitKat.

• Archos 52 Platinum has a 150x76.8x8.8 mm chassis weighting 161g, an integrated 5.25" (280 PPI) display, a rear 8MPx camera (front 2MPx), and a 1750mAh battery.

• Archos 59 Xenon offers a 165x84x8.5 mm chassis weighting 205 grams, a 5.9 "(249 PPI) display and the same specifications of the aforementioned 52 Platinum, plus a 2500mAh battery.

• Xenon 62 differs in size (164x88x8 mm - 210 grams), display (6.27" 234 PPI), battery (2300mAh) and 5MPx front camera.

Archos 52 Platinum and 59 Xenon will both be available at the price of 169 € while the 62 Xenon going up to 199 €. These devices are quite interesting, and the fact we'll soon be able to buy them at a lower price (as normally happens) is just a plus; too bad for the batteries, in all of the four cases a little bit undersized.
